A hefty textured plaid with a subtle sartorial twist.

This soft, rugged plaid is woven from a blend of cotton and premium poly that features an understated nep texture. The nep technique creates a similar effect to that of slub in which tiny bits of yarn are made to stick out across the surface of the fabric. The result is an irregular, gently worn look and a soft hand that make for an interesting, tweed-like casual fabric. This one features classic Black Watch plaid, a pattern that originated with Scottish Highlands regiments of the British military around 1725 and has since permeated the menswear industry as a versatile motif. It’s been suggested that the name “Black Watch” derived partly from the darkness of the blues and greens in the plaid—from afar the combination can look almost black—and this one lives up to that. Deep navy and forest green mingle in a detailed design that will never go out of style.

“I love how soft and comfy it feels while retaining a very rugged character. This shirt feels like it would be at home around a campfire. It’s got that rugged feel. If it’s your first time buying a medium weight fabric flannel from proper cloth this weight feels quite heavy. If this is the medium weight their heavyweight flannels must be closer to shirt jackets than shirts.”
