How to Return a Product

We stand behind our products and want you to love all of your Proper Cloth pieces. With that in mind, we have a generous return policy designed to enable you to conveniently return items that you don’t love, and to remake custom items in new sizes, free of charge.

1. Check Our Return Policy

While our return policy is quite flexible, it is not unlimited. Before sending an item back, please be sure that it is eligible for a return. If you’re unsure, just ask! 

2. Send Us an Email

Before returning a product, please send us an email to let us know that it’s coming. In your email include the following information: 

  • Order ID
  • Name of the product in the order
  • Reason for return
  • Specify if you’d like a Refund, Store Credit, Remake, or Exchange
  • For remakes of custom products: specify if you will process the remake yourself, or if you need assistance. If asking for assistance, provide a detailed description of the requested changes (e.g. ‘Please remake with Soft President Spread collar using casual size profile’)
  • For exchanges of stocked products: specify if you’d like store credit applied to your account so that you can order an alternate product yourself or if you’d like us to send you a different color or size.

3. Mail the Product Back

For customers in the US, use the return shipping label that was included in your order. If you are not in the US, or if you have misplaced the return shipping label, contact us for a return shipping label (see here for a list of products/countries where we provide complimentary return shipping). Use the return shipping label, or otherwise mail the product to our address in New York:

The product can typically be repackaged in the same box that it was delivered in, but be sure to apply your return shipping label on top of the original postage information to avoid confusion with the courier.
