To help reduce the need for alterations, we suggest double checking how we define this measurement. While some other custom shirt tailors specify the sleeve length simply from the end of the shoulder down to the end of the sleeve, we specify the sleeve length to be measured from the center back of the neck, over the shoulder and then down to the end of the cuff.

Our method of measuring is generally more common, but every now and then someone copies their sleeve length measurement from another tailor and then is disappointed when the resulting shirt we make has sleeves that are much too short. If this happened to you, a quick way to correct your measurement is to add half the shoulder width to the number you have.

To help reduce the need for alterations, we suggest double checking your input for the shirt length dimension and considering the following tips:

1) It’s a good idea to cross check your inputs with the shirt dimensions of a shirt that fits you well.
2) If you’re planning to wear this shirt untucked and measuring your body, we suggest doing this while wearing the type of pants you plan to wear the shirt with. Measuring for shirt length while wearing tighter, higher riding pants can cause folks to underestimate their desired shirt length.
