Fabric Description

Every man should own an oxford shirt. Comfortable, hard-wearing, and incredibly versatile, oxfords are an absolute wardrobe staple.

Our heavy oxfords have just the right amount of heft to them—they’re woven from Pima cotton with a 40/1 x 21/2 construction for a fabric that feels substantial, but not overly thick. They’re also highly resilient, meaning they’ll last for years and only get better the more they’re washed and worn. You can dress an oxford up under a sport coat or dress it down with your favorite pair of jeans. It’s one of the few fabrics that can just as easily be worn with a tie as it can be worn rumpled and untucked. This white heavy oxford is as timeless and easy to wear as it gets.

Recommended Styling: Try it with our Soft Ivy Button Down Collar, Soft Front Placket, and a Soft One-Button Cuff for a classic oxford cloth button down (OCBD), or go with one of our soft spread collars for more of a sprezzy Italian vibe.

  • Nice beefy Oxford cloth. Love it with the Soft Ivy collar.

  • High quality, comfortable fabric. Haven't had long enough to determine durability, but I'm optimistic on that front.

  • Perfect for an everyday shirt

  • The fabric feels top quality. I have other OCBD shirts from different brands but the Proper Cloth shirts are different. After washing the shirt, it feels light, comfortable and the same as when I bought them the first time. A shirt that gets better with time and each wash speaks to the quality of the shirt. I highly recommend these shirts from Proper Cloth.

  • I travel frequently and the all cotton fabric travels much better than I expected.

3 weeks ago  ·  Raymond in Rock Island, IL

  • sturdy which I like but a little stiff initially

3 weeks ago  ·  Dean in Haledon, NJ

  • Very durable, hardy fabric. Versatile, can be dressed up but has a bit of ruggedness to it too. Quite wrinkle prone, more than expected. But this can be ironed out.

  • excellent

  • A great oxford cloth. Substantial, but still soft. Has already softened further after just a few washes. The white does seem to shrink just a tad more than other colors in this fabric, so be careful

3 weeks ago  ·  John in Manhattan Beach, CA

  • Not as wrinkle resistant as I thought it would be

4 weeks ago  ·  Christopher in Wilton, CT

  • Refined, fantastic. Great shirt. Definitely shrank a little after the first wash but now that I've planned for that in the initial measurement it's ok

  • Sturdy, classic oxford fabric

4 weeks ago  ·  Robert in Catonsville, MD

  • Oxford cloth fabric feels a like a heavy canvas, but stiffer and without any softness. Not sure I'll be wearing this shirt much.

  • I’ve ordered this in two colors and is my new favorite shirt from proper cloth. Thick and classy looking in a non-iron fabric

  • The Clark Oxford Cloth is nice and opaque, but is extremely wrinkle prone from my limited experience. C'est la vie.

  • Nice weight, like selvedge denim. Will wear nicely with time.

last month  ·  Jason in Denver, CO

  • Hate it - heavy, wrinkles immediately, very stiff

last month  ·  Richard in Houston, TX

  • This fabric doesn't really have any wrinkle resistance, but that is expected with an oxford. I would rate the wrinkle resistance at a 2 out of 5. If you know that going in, it is a great fabric, just will need to be worn in to make the fabric softer.

  • I like most of my oxfords from Proper Cloth and this one is no different.

last month  ·  Greg in New York, NY

  • Was a bit stiff and did not drape very well once washed. The lightweight fabric was much better.

last month  ·  Jimmy in Burlington, NC

  • The fabric feels real. Like something that actually exists instead of something fake. So many shirts feel like garbage these days, like plastic that's just going to be thrown away soon. This shirt feels like a true shirt.

last month  ·  Teagan in Morehead City, NC

  • The oxford cloth is the perfect weight, opaque, and drapes beautifully.

last month  ·  Jeff in Owensboro, KY

  • The fabric is a good quality oxford

last month  ·  Betsey in Barre Mills, WI

  • A classic and durable white Oxford cloth that will be a staple in my wardrobe. It's sturdy and will take a few wears to break in, but I like feeling the quality of the fabric. It requires thorough ironing after washing or before wearing, so it may not be a preferred traveling companion in the age of non-iron shirts. Still, this one is a solid choice if you seek a traditional, high-quality Oxford cloth fabric.

  • Loved the color and opaque density of the Clark White Oxford Cloth. Made for an extremely pleasing wear. It is very durable and a true white. Color and construction-wise, I couldn't be happier! Where the fabric falls short for me is in its wrinkle-resistance. Mind you, it's not touted as a wrinkle-resistant fabric, but boy, does it wrinkle. Wrinkles come out easy with a steamer, but just mentally prepare yourself to truly embrace wrinkles in your shirt when wearing this fabric.

last month  ·  Bryce in ORLANDO, FL

  • It’s a little thinner than I’d hoped which allows it to wrinkle more.

last month  ·  Alex in ATLANTA, GA

  • wrinkles easily but otherwise great fabric

last month  ·  Zack in Dallas, TX

  • I like this fabric a lot, but it is very thick and heavy. If you are looking for something good for summer, I recommend the lightweight oxford cloth. The Clark is a great fabric for an OCBD shirt fall through early spring.

  • Wrinkles are tough to get out. Collar is wrinkled and not crisp.

last month  ·  Tom in GREENSBORO, NC

  • This fabric is an odd one. It is hardy, which is good. At first, it does not drape well and wrinkles incredibly easily. However, after about a year and a half, it breaks in. I would say it wears with age much better than the American Pima cotton oxford, but you need a lot of patience because it takes a LONG time of consistently wearing and washing the shirt for it to drape well with a soft hand-feel.

last month  ·  Nick in Carmel, IN

  • Comfortable and a nice shade of white. I like that I can clean this in the clothes washer and hang dry the shirt, or send it out to be professionally laundered.

last month  ·  Stephen in Baldwin, NY

  • Perfect!

last month  ·  Craig in Provincetown, MA

  • This fabric is ideal for an oxford. I plan to purchase this fabric again.
