A striking crimson print Tencel™ fabric from Italy’s Albini.

Tencel™ is an eco-friendly fiber with incredible performance characteristics. It's made from wood pulp and is more absorbent than cotton, and while its drape is similar to that of silk and rayon it’s much easier to care for—just toss it in the wash. Tencel™ fibers are certified by the European eco-label Oeko-Tex 100 as containing low levels of manufacturing chemicals and byproducts, and 80% less water and 1/5th the amount of growing land than cotton is needed to produce the same amount of Tencel™. Another characteristic of Tencel™ that we love is that it takes color beautifully when dyed. The rich crimson ground of this fabric has just a hint of sheen and the moody tonal palm tree print provides eye-catching interest. A bold option for an elevated Aloha shirt.

Recommended Styling: Since this fabric has a very silky hand, we recommend going with soft details all around. A Camp collar and short sleeves will make an easygoing summer shirt you won’t want to take off.

“Didn't have a great initial experience with tencel - I somehow ruined my first shirt in the wash (it went all peached) - but this one has been great. It's retained its silky feel and it really does regulate temperature well in the heat. It's certainly not what you'd call 'crisp'. It kind of wants to slink all over you, like a sleeping cat, which makes it great for casual summer. Great colour too.”

“I’m a Tencel fanatic now, and this shirt did it. A most peculiar fabric; hard and crunchy when it comes out of the washer, but soft as silk as soon as it (air) dries. Magnificent if you have to work in the heat, as I do. Now I’ve got tencel pajamas and bed sheets as well. A freaking miracle fabric. Love it!”
