Canclini White Imperial Basketweave Fabric

Description

Fabric Description

A luxurious textured white dress fabric that has just a pinch of shine. Woven in Italy by Canclini, this has a great 90s 2-ply basketweave construction. This is one of our most vibrant whites and has really great natural structure to it, so it generally stays wrinkle free. A very limited-edition fabric, so get it before it's gone...

  • On,y fabric I have had trouble with. I love basket weave and have had no issues with the basic white. However, this version piled after just two cleanings. It happened in two places on the shirt.

  • A very luxurious feeling material which stands out and gets attention. It is more of a very very light baby blue than total white

  • This is a good quality and indeed quite a heavy and opaque fabric. It is very distinctive -- it turned out to be a bit flashy for my tastes. As others have noted it has something of an icy blue sheen to it, but this does fade with wear and washing.

  • VERY SHARP!

  • The most beautiful, elegant shirt fabric I have ever owned. The slight \"blue\" cast cited by other reviewers is possibly due to the shiny thread--almost a silvery ice tone--definitely not warm but not really blue either. To me it\'s not a problem and the shirt is very appropriate as a tuxedo or regular dress shirt. Really stands out from the crowd. Might be rather warm in summer but I received it in February in the Northeast so I can\'t say.

  • This basketweave looks great. The coloar style I chose was the presidential spread. My only negative observation is that my collar tips curled out unless the short was professionally pressed.

January 2015  ·  David in Brooklyn, NY

  • It definitely has a blue tint to it to the point that classifying it as \"white\" is inaccurate. However, it is a stunning fabric, of obviously very high quality.

  • beautiful

  • This is a very pronounced weave visible from a distance. I love the shirt, I think, but it is definitely different. I\'m wondering if I should have designed it more as a casual shirt (jeans and a jacket) than a suit shirt. Very cool material though

December 2014  ·  Brent in Leesburg, VA

  • A little too loose for my taste, but still a good shirt. This fabric has a definite blue hue, enough to make me question if it\'s fair to call it \"white\"

September 2014  ·  Ted in New York, NY

  • This white fabric is light blue.

September 2014  ·  Daniel in Parrish, FL

  • the fabric had the right amount of sheen coupled with the pattern it has a 3D quality but in a very uptown sense

August 2014  ·  Dave in Chicago, IL

  • May have been the fact that the fit was off ... The fabric was too grayish

August 2014  ·  Dino in Providence, RI

  • Ah - see my last comment - it\'s not truly \"white\" despite it\'s name. Definitely more of a grey-ish blueish tone. Definitely good value for the weight. I\'d tell people - if you\'re looking for a true white, this isn\'t it - but its thick & opaque & really nice.

  • Very unique and dressy. Perfect for power suit

July 2014  ·  Steve in Atlanta, GA

  • Exceedingly luxurious.

July 2014  ·  Matt in Atlanta, GA

  • The colour is a cool, soft white. The basket weave texture is quite prominent, both visually and to the touch. For a solid white, it has a lot of personality.

July 2014  ·  William in Ottawa, Ontario

  • Love this Fabric. Very classy looking with a great soft Feel. Love the look of the basketweave!

June 2014  ·  Jeff in Mississauga, Ontario

  • Really neat looking. Almost blue. Maybe the fanciest fabric of any shirt I own.

June 2014  ·  Thomas in Brooklyn, NY

  • The fabric is beautiful. My only criticism is that it is a little blue.

June 2014  ·  Timothy in New York, NY

  • very fancy, women notice that this is not an off the shelf shirt, makes a great, but tasteful statement in the sublime area

June 2014  ·  Bradford in Colorado Springs, CO

  • Very heavy hopsack-like texture. A unique white shirt, really beautiful. A bit flashy with the shine and large texture.

June 2014  ·  Henry in Brooklyn, NY

  • Quite a bit of contrast with the texture - but I like it. It\'s unique.

June 2014  ·  Greg in Fort Smith, AR

  • My mistake for ordering a fabric that had no reviews posted, and I assumed a white Canclini would be a safe choice for a quality dress shirt fabric - not so. The quality of the fabric is exceptional. The texture of the basket weave is too \"dimensional\" for a conventional dress shirt. Actually, this shirt might actually be considered a fashionable choice for a ladies\' dress shirt.

  • Wonderful!

June 2014  ·  Lucas in Dublin, CA

  • Extraordinary fabric which sets Proper Cloth apart from other retailers

May 2014  ·  Edward in Wethersfield, CT

  • Wow. Substantial fabric and a very noticeable texture. I\'ve never seen a fabric like this before. It\'s like an oxford cloth, of course, but at once with a more coarse weave and a substantially finer fabric. It\'s smooth to the touch and drapes beautifully. The texture might make it a little too unusual for a truly formal (and I don\'t mean \"tuxedo\") white shirt, but it would work just fine in most situations. Here\'s the thing to know, though: it\'s a most unusual color. The white is a very blue white. The shirt actually looks silvery or slightly grey. The color is not at all a warm white. So it\'s a little surprising in that sense. Amazing shirt, though.
