Rayon was one of the original popular Aloha shirt fabrics, and for good reason—its smoothness and breathability made it one of the most comfortable options available for residents of the steamy Hawaiian islands. This version’s 40s single-ply plain weave construction creates a soft lightness that’s like a cross between cotton and silk against the skin, and it allows air to flow through much more easily than either of those materials. Plus, rayon is both absorbent and cool to the touch, so it’s perfect for warm weather. The combination of traditional Aloha motifs in orange, light and sky blue, and cream on the rich terra cotta ground makes a playful retro statement. You can just as easily wear this with shorts as with a casual linen suit.
