Japanese Black Wide Seersucker Fabric

Description

Fabric Description

A versatile seersucker with a bit of extra boldness.

There’s nothing quite like a seersucker fabric to get you through the dog days of summer. Widely worn in the hot, muggy American South, seersucker’s special uneven puckering gives it less surface area contact with the skin, increasing airflow under the shirt and allowing heat to dissipate more quickly. This version is woven in Japan from premium cotton and has wider strips of puckering than your average seersucker, which allows for more circulation and a more distinctive look. Wear this classic black one as an untucked short sleeve shirt with shorts, or dress it up with side-tab-styled dress pants.

Recommended Styling: Go with a Soft English Spread collar and no placket for a modern, clean look. Grey Horn buttons add subtle detail. Note that due to the special nature of seersucker fabrics, they can only be made using soft, unfused collars, cuffs, and fronts/plackets.

  • I like this fabric

November 2022  ·  Kevin in CHARLOTTE, NC

  • Great summer fabric, very breathable. A little coarser than some of the other seersuckers I’ve tried from propercloth.

  • Beautiful and substantive black shirt. Perfect fit. I get lots of compliments on this shirt. As usual, the tailoring is perfect. Nice drape and weight.

  • didn't love this one

October 2022  ·  Todd in Denver, CO

  • Outstanding quality. Heavier than other seersucker. Holds color and shape after washing.

September 2022  ·  John in Huntersville, NC

  • Really nice summer fabric. Lightweight but has structure to it, which I like. The 'wide' really isn't that wide, looks like a pretty standard seersucker to me, though I guess its wider than some of the other portuguese seersuckers PC offers. Only washed it once but looks like it will hold up well and wear in nicely.

September 2022  ·  Jon in Clackamas, OR

  • Heaviest seersucker I've ever owned. Or ever seen. I like it, and will wear it more in the fall.

August 2022  ·  Andrew in Sewanee, TN

  • Much sturdier than I expected!

August 2022  ·  Eddie in Washington, DC

  • It's great. It is seersucker so it does wrinkle but that's why I got the shirt. The wide seersucker is unique

August 2022  ·  Mike in Montrose, NY

  • Outstanding

July 2022  ·  Brad in Murrieta, CA

  • This fabric is amazing! A crispy, wide seersucker that emerges from the dryer with no ironing needed. I think it looks particularly nice made up with the coconut shell buttons and can be dressed up or down. I've worn it untucked with shorts and tucked into dresser trousers too.

July 2022  ·  Jason in Piedmont, CA

  • A little heavier than I expected but beautiful shirt.

July 2022  ·  Stephen in Leeds, NY

  • I had this fabric made into a black short sleeve. The "puckers" of this fabric are 1/8in square, and are nicely pronounced. This seersucker is thicker than other seersuckers I have owned. I would consider this fabric a luxury seersucker. It does not require a press. This makes a really cool, one of a kind shirt! After writting all this, I am now going to order the Fatigue color long sleeve version.

July 2022  ·  DEAN in LOUISVILLE, KY

  • It's a super interesting looking fabric. It is not stretchy but looks great as a popover!

July 2022  ·  Zion in New York, NY

  • I really enjoy the texture of the seersucker material. Nothing days summer like beset sucker fabric.

July 2022  ·  Kenneth in Paramus, NJ

  • Love the seersucker line. I have ordered multiple colors. The black is classic and allows you pull off casual or a little more refined without compromise.

July 2022  ·  Troy in Millgrove, Ontario

  • Light and good texture

July 2022  ·  Matt in Nutley, NJ

  • If Keanu Reeves visited from 100 years in the future, he would be wearing a shirt from this fabric. This is unusual stuff, a little on the stiff side but also very lightweight. A guy could wear black on a very hot day and not roast to death with a shirt like this. Looks incredible with the brown coconut buttons. Also if ever a fabric was harmonious with dark sunglasses, it is this.

June 2022  ·  Joseph in Grafton, WI

  • One of my all time favorite shirts.

June 2022  ·  Nate in Brooklyn, NY

  • Excellent

June 2022  ·  Gerhard in Fort Qu Appelle, SK

  • Great fabric, nice structure, makes a good summer shirt.

    June 2022  ·  Justin in Minato-ku, Tokyo

  • This is a thicker fabric but goes well for summer nights.

June 2022  ·  Nickalus in Powder Springs, GA

  • Well, I love a seersucker shirt so there's that but I've never worn a wide seersucker like this. It might take me a little to get used to. Fabric is a smidge weightier than I would guess it would be. Bring on summer!
