Albini Dark Blue Oxford Chambray Fabric

Fabric Description

The chambray shirt has become a day in, day out essential for many guys. Chambrays are smooth to the touch, but have a unique color and texture that gives it a bit more personality than a dressy blue shirting fabric. The reason for this is the weaving technique, which gives the fabric a subtle textured quality, which is then combined with a mélange yarn for added color variation. Woven with a smooth 70/1 x 70/1 construction, we love the deep blue tone on this Albini chambray—it’s perfect for wearing with light wash jeans, but can seamlessly transition to business casual when paired with a blazer. It comes in with just a pinch of shine, but once it's been laundered, it will take on a more casual, matte finish. We’d recommend choosing our more casual soft collars and cuffs with this one. Go for a Soft Ivy BD collar to nail the off-duty look, but for more dressy versatility opt for the Soft President Spread.

  • great chambray. really nice shirt.

March 2020  ·  Chris in Venice, CA

  • A nice medium blue. This chambray has a nice weight that probably could pull off a business casual shirt.

  • Fabric seems to wrinkle immediately. Not good for work.

January 2019  ·  andre in Dallas, TX

  • Sort of "disappears" in my rotation but I don't know why - it's a gorgeous fabric.

January 2019  ·  Greg in Fort Smith, AR

  • I've had this shirt for two years now. As others have noted, the fabric is thin and fine, similar to a nice dress shirt. It is quite opaque. The fabric also has quite a shine when new; this fades with time, but never completely disappears. Also, the color is more of a grayish-blue than a classic chambray/denim blue. All of these features add up to a shirt that is quite nice and much better paired with slacks/chinos and/or a jacket than with jeans.

  • For some reason, the collar on this shirt did not hold up. It just doesn't press well at the collar.

June 2018  ·  Eli in Davie , FL

  • Runs a little gray

December 2017  ·  Spyros in New Canaan, CT

  • Great fabric with excellent visual texture and feels great. Very wrinkle prone though but well worth it

August 2017  ·  Alex in ANCHORAGE, AK

  • Lines in white are more visible than I expected.

April 2017  ·  Andrew in Houston, TX

  • Ok pattern... very nice material.

March 2017  ·  James in Garden City, NY

  • Solid, resilient, comfortable fabric. If you were so inclined you could have a batch made up and wear one every day in different circumstances and situations and not look out of place. Just great.

December 2016  ·  Paul in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear

  • shrinks less than expected

November 2016  ·  Ryan in Springville, UT

  • Great! The fabric looks beautiful

October 2016  ·  Alan in Reston, VA

  • a bit to slubby/contrasting for me, but it's a nice chambray... probably will dull down with some washes.

October 2016  ·  Amos in NAPLES, FL

  • Verry nice Chambrey

October 2016  ·  Timothy in CARLSBAD, CA

  • Great material that will work casually and in a business setting. I ordered this with a president spread soft collar and it is equally great with a casual tie.

October 2016  ·  Mohammed in Sammamish, WA

  • It's a nice looking fabric that lends itself to business. Soft, light in hand, this is dress shirt material, not recommended for a casual look.

October 2016  ·  Myron in Portland, OR

  • This wrinkles too easily and is a bit hard to iron. That said, it's very comfortable and has a silky hand.

September 2016  ·  David in Sandy, UT

  • Cool and interesting fabric.

September 2016  ·  David in CEDAR RAPIDS, IA

  • Very soft, slubby almost to the point of stripey, pics are a good indicator.

August 2016  ·  Spencer in Sunset Valley, TX

  • Quite possibly my favorite fabric yet.

August 2016  ·  Michael in San Francisco, CA

  • This fabric looks so much better in person. The variations in the fabric are absolutely beautiful and give it a very distinct look.

August 2016  ·  Chad in Atlanta, GA

  • Surprisingly light weight fabric. Wash it a couple of times so that it can loose the initial sheen. The texture gives a more casual look to an otherwise formal dress shirt. Get it with a soft presidential spread.

August 2016  ·  Edwin in San Francisco, CA

  • Almost grey, and not what I would consider very dark. Very thin and has a shine that leans formal, which I am not sure works with the soft ivy collar I ordered. Maybe after a few washes the shine will lessen.

August 2016  ·  Richard in Yardley, PA

  • This fabric is great. Great color and opacity. Lightweight and very comfortable. A great casual option.

August 2016  ·  Alexis in Coral Gables, FL

August 2016  ·  Jack in Bethesda, MD

  • Great texture, light weight shirt. Love it.

July 2016  ·  Asher in Brooklyn, NY

  • Wonderfully soft and comfortable. Great for summer.

July 2016  ·  Andrew in Lantz, NS

  • This fabric is extremely shiny and very prone to wrinkles. Based on the photos and the description, it seems like it would be appropriate for a more casual look, but it looks ridiculous, shiny and rumpled. I'm afraid to wear it in public, it looks like a shark skin fabric.

July 2016  ·  Trip in North Wales, PA

  • silky smooth. high quality

July 2016  ·  Anil in Basking Ridge, NJ

  • Great fabric, fit has changed

July 2016  ·  Amit in New York, NY

  • Nice subtle grey-blue, but a bit too shiny for my taste

July 2016  ·  Rob in Sicklerville, NJ

  • wrinkles too easily

July 2016  ·  Orian in Jersey City, NJ

  • This fabric has a great sheen to it. nothing was unexpected, and I consider it a great value.

June 2016  ·  Jennifer in Manhasset, NY

  • Its shiny to the point where it might look a little gaudy. The color and texture is great though, like stunning. I hope the gloss goes away after I wash it.

June 2016  ·  Theodore in Steamboat Springs, CO

  • I just love this fabric! Perfect for the summer. The slight sheen of the fabric has significantly decreased after multiple washings, giving the shirt a nice casual, worn-in look.

June 2016  ·  Heinrich in Wien, Wien

  • Amazing! Not sure why this isn't more popular. Great texture, very soft and an interesting look with maybe a hint of shine. Blue is almost a little greycast. Think of it like an extra light oxford. Perfect for going out on summer nights although not work acceptable. Does hold wrinkles though unlike more chambray and oxfords. I recommend Aloha! accents for something really interesting. Update: Wrinkles easily, holds a lot of heat.

June 2016  ·  Morgan in Oceanside, CA

  • It is beautiful but a bit delicate doubt it will wash well

June 2016  ·  Craig in SAN FRANCISCO, CA

  • Interesting variation of chambray. Dressy, casual look.

June 2016  ·  Christopher in SAN francisco, CA

June 2016  ·  Peter in Cedar Bluff, TN

  • perfect

June 2016  ·  Scott in New York, NY

  • Lighter in color than I had expected. Fabric is soft and light.

May 2016  ·  Christopher in Long Island City, NY

  • I love the fabric would like a bit of a lower price point near $150 would seem more reasonable for what it was.
