A soft yet durable fabric with a bit of extra texture and weight. Canvas—one of the world’s oldest fabrics—is known for its thickness and sturdiness. This 100% cotton version is woven with a 40s 2-ply plain weave construction that gives it satisfying heft without making it too heavy. It wears similarly to your favorite chambray, but it’s a bit more dense and has a little more texture. This dark shade of blue—achieved with an enzyme dark wash—is incredibly versatile and pairs well with everything from worn-in denim to chinos.

From sourcing the perfect denim from a 185-year-old mill in Italy to testing washes with our factory for months on end, we labor over every detail of our washed indigo shirts. Each of them starts out as a plain or textured weave fabric that’s been dyed heavily with indigo. After being cut and sewn, the shirts are then garment washed using either a light enzyme, soda, or bleaching process. It's this process that gives each shirt its beautiful color and unique fading around the seams. While garment washed indigo and denim shirts are a popular product in the ready-to-wear market, they haven't previously been available in a custom fit or design due to the bulk production required for the washing process. Recommended Styling: Try this one with our Soft Franklin Spread collar, no placket, Slate Horn buttons, and Soft Long One Button cuff for a sleek casual look. Note that, due to the special nature of the garment washing process, this fabric can only be made using soft, unfused collars, cuffs, and fronts/plackets.

Since our limited-run garment washed indigo and denim fabrics are made in small batches with a special process, we guarantee delivery by January 17th, 2023. Fabric swatches are not available.

As this is a garment washed fabric, it may also have more shrinkage making sizing more difficult. My shirt in tihs fabric fit a little tighter than other PC shirts.”

“This is the first fabric from PC that I wouldn't recommend to a friend. The color, indigo dye, and wash are quite nice. but I find the performance to be lacking. It is a bit uncomfortable (at least while new) and wrinkles quite a bit. It is not what I expected from the pictures or the description of "canvas" as it is fairly lightweight. I love many of the other washed indigo fabrics from PC though so those remain better options for me.”
