{"id":495,"date":"2013-11-01T20:40:21","date_gmt":"2013-11-02T00:40:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/propercloth.com\/reference\/?p=495"},"modified":"2024-03-19T11:37:24","modified_gmt":"2024-03-19T15:37:24","slug":"lines-running-armpits-back-collar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/propercloth.com\/reference\/lines-running-armpits-back-collar\/","title":{"rendered":"Lines Running from Armpits to Back of Shirt Collar"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image size-full wp-image-937\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"345\" src=\"https:\/\/propercloth.com\/reference\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_4353_21.jpg\" alt=\"Sloping Shoulders\" class=\"wp-image-937\" srcset=\"https:\/\/propercloth.com\/reference\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_4353_21.jpg 500w, https:\/\/propercloth.com\/reference\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_4353_21-300x207.jpg 300w, https:\/\/propercloth.com\/reference\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_4353_21-434x300.jpg 434w, https:\/\/propercloth.com\/reference\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_4353_21-196x135.jpg 196w, https:\/\/propercloth.com\/reference\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/DSC_4353_21-140x96.jpg 140w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Signs of Lowered Shoulders<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Problem description<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are noticeable lines running from the armpits up towards the back of the collar. &nbsp;Generally, this will be most noticeable when the shirt is worn buttoned all the way up. &nbsp;This is frequently a problem with folks who lift weights and have more developed trapezius muscles. &nbsp;Others, with wider shoulders that pitch downwards at the end may also find these lines developing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How it should fit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ideally, the shirt should drape flatly across the upper chest without any lines pulling or puffiness. &nbsp;For this aspect of the fit, you will want to consider if this is a problem only when the shirt is buttoned all the way up, and if that is how you will primarily wear the shirt. &nbsp;Also, it&#8217;s common for the left and right shoulders to slope differently. &nbsp;In this situation, you&#8217;ll want to find a Shoulder Slope setting that is a happy medium for the two shoulders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Problem solution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To reduce these lines you will want to Lower the Shoulder Slope on your shirt size. &nbsp;If you have no shoulder slope adjustment selected, go to Lowered Shoulders -0.2&#8243;, Lowered Shoulders -0.6&#8243;, or Lowered Shoulder -1.0&#8243;. &nbsp;If you had a &#8216;Raised&#8217; Shoulder Slope adjustment selected you will want to reduce that back to the &#8220;Standard&#8221; setting, or move it to a Lowered Shoulder Slope adjustment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How the adjustment works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Changing the Shoulder Slope setting on your size changes the elevation of the shoulders relative to the elevation of the collar. &nbsp;Changing the Shoulder Slope from &#8220;Standard&#8221; to Lowered Shoulders -0.2&#8243; will lower the shoulders by 0.2&#8243;; &nbsp;adjusting Shoulder Slope from Lowered Shoulders -0.2&#8243; to Lowered Shoulders -0.6&#8243; will lower the shoulders by 0.4&#8243;;
