“I love the look and the feel of this cotton, so much that it’s the only shirt I want to wear. Hope my wife doesn’t try to steal it when I am out of town :)”

“Exactly what you want in a madras.”
Aaron in Laguna Beach, CA
Prized for its breathability, lightness, and distinctive look, madras is an absolute warm-weather staple.
Ours is woven in India with a 40s single-ply plain weave construction that makes for an incredibly soft and airy feel. Madras fabrics were originally dyed with bright, colorful vegetable dyes that, when laundered, would "bleed," resulting in shirts with more subdued tones and a faded appearance. This bleeding inadvertently created the traditional madras look we’re familiar with today. Our madras shirts are designed to have just the right amount of fade right off the bat so they won't bleed when you wash them at home. This muted slate and blue plaid makes for a unique yet timeless style that works perfectly as either a long or short sleeve shirt.
Recommended Styling: Go with soft details. Our Colorado Button Down collar with a Soft Front placket and Angled pocket is a classic look, but if you want to update the traditional try our Soft Franklin Spread and no placket.
