FITTED DRESS SHIRTS

There are two types of dress shirts. Fitted dress shirts and unfitted dress shirts. If you've been buying your dress shirts off the rack, you've probably been buying unfitted shirts.

The men's dress shirt is a tricky garment to fit properly. This is for two primary reasons.
1.) Unlike the knitted cotton used to make t-shirts and sweaters, woven cotton fabric does not stretch very much.
2.) Unlike jackets and coats, the dress shirt is designed to fit close to your body.

The result is that a poorly fitting dress shirt is both uncomfortable and sloppy looking. If the sleeves of your shirt are an inch too short its embarrassingly obvious. If the collar is too tight, its brutally uncomfortable. When you're buying a dress shirt at the mall,

Don't panic. If the fit of your dress shirt is close (but not perfect), you probably won't look offensive, you'll just lack a certain aura. You know the aura we're talking about... that special something that guys like George Clooney and Brad Pitt have where they always appear comfortable but attractive.

A properly fitted dress shirt will always present you in the best light possible, no matter your shape. If you're tall and skinny, or especially athletic, you'll want a slim fit dress shirt with a tapered waist and higher arm holes. If you're not so athletic... maybe your midsection has swelled a bit, you'll want a made to measure dress shirt that will help you look your best.

Because off the rack dress shirts rarely fit properly, in order to find a proper fitted dress shirt, you should consider a custom made shirt that will be "made to measure" just for you.
