Fabric Description

The white broadcloth dress shirt is a must for every man. It is the definition of the "crisp-white-shirt". This broadcloth is great. A bit of a shine. Very thin and a little transparent. 100s 2-ply broadcloth (yes, to be extra clear that is 100/2x100/2).

  • Nice basic white broadcloth.

January 2020  ·  Michael in Wayland, MA

  • This was my first Proper shirt and what got me hooked. Amazing fit and fine quality.

March 2018  ·  Daniel in SAN FRANCISCO, CA

  • Can never go wrong with a white broadcloth.

March 2018  ·  TK in Allen, TX

  • Good value for a nice work shirt. Now, I much prefer shirts with more texture than this one had, since it was pretty flat.

June 2017  ·  Shareene in ATLANTA, GA

  • This has been a fantastic fabric that has held up for several years. It's lightweight, so it wrinkles easily but drapes very well.

October 2016  ·  Tony in Washington, DC

  • Nice, standard "workhorse" fabric for the office shirt. No longer available

July 2016  ·  Joachim in Washington DC, DC

  • Overall decent but not amazing.

April 2016  ·  Stuart in Nashua, NH

  • This shirt wore itself out after ten wears in the office. Not worth it.

December 2015  ·  David in Arlington, MA

  • not as crisp of a white as was expected. seemed to hold stains a more.

September 2015  ·  Richard in NEW YORK, NY

  • Very nice, clean, comfortable shirt. The fabric has held up well - it\'s now moved into the \"backup shirt\" rotation because ... white shirts aren\'t exactly white forever especially around the collar

September 2015  ·  Chip in Cherry Hill, NJ

  • Great basic broadcloth, but for the money I\'d go with the white 80s broadcloth for daily wear. This one is a little heftier and scratchier and the 80s has a hint of wrinkle resistance that helps keep things looking clean during the day. Still a great basic shirt.

August 2015  ·  Kenneth in Beverly Hills, MI

  • This is your plain, run-of-the-mill white shirt fabric. Nothing special, but does the job! Fairly thin. Dry cleans well.

April 2015  ·  Nicholas in Atlanta, GA

  • A white shirt - it is what it is.

March 2015  ·  Brian in Darien, CT

  • The fabric is very thin and breathable, and extremely light. You can see through it a little bit. It\'s a good summer shirt.

November 2014  ·  Elliot in Far Rockaway, NY

  • This fabric is just great. It is an essential that must have.

November 2014  ·  Allie in Chicago, IL

  • great fabric. great weight.

July 2014  ·  Alan in los angeles, CA

  • Used a test fabric for my first shit. Thin and sheer. Reminded me of a rental tux shirt fabric from HS.

May 2014  ·  Chad in New York, NY

  • Basic fabric, nothing special.

March 2014  ·  Chris in Framingham, MA

  • Very nice feel with this classic fabric. Very reasonable and a great value.

February 2014  ·  John in Island Heights, NJ

  • Good for the price. Nothing special about it. Wrinkles very easily.

December 2013  ·  Chris in Royal Oak, MI

  • Difficult to iron, but it does retain a smooth appearance once it is ironed. Durable, yet still offers a smooth-ish feel. I recommend this because I believe that this fabric is appropriate for many different styles of shirts, perhaps more towards casual?

December 2013  ·  Anil in Ottawa, Ontario

  • It\'s a little thin and not terribly resillient, I would probably order a heavier material next time.

December 2013  ·  Matt in Lincoln, RI

  • Very soft, smooth fabric, good summer weight. I wear this shirt all year though as it is very versatile.

November 2013  ·  Jeremy in London, England

  • It is a nice soft frabric that is breathable. Definitely a good value.

October 2013  ·  Kevin in Eugene, OR

  • Great fabric and cut, nothing unexpected.

October 2013  ·  Ryan in Denver, CO

  • has become my favorite white shirt

August 2013  ·  john in CHICAGO, IL

  • Perfect basic white shirt.

August 2013  ·  Daniel in Bethlehem, PA

  • The fabric that launched my Proper Cloth obsession. This was a relatively standard fabric for business use. Nothing special, but nothing wrong with it. The fabric developed a hole in it after ~1.5 years of wearing, so I question its strength a bit

June 2013  ·  Michael in Short Hills, NJ

  • Clean but lighter than other fabrics.

May 2013  ·  Adam in Oakland, CA

  • Its fairly see through. I always wear undershirts anyway, but make sure you have a plain white one, as any design or lettering will be visible thru the shirt.

May 2013  ·  Laura in Iowa City, IA

  • Too sheer.

May 2013  ·  Adam in New York, NY

  • Shirt has held up over repeated wear and washing for 3 years. No frayed edges or tears. About my time for new one though, my size has fluctuated.

April 2013  ·  GARY in FOREST HILLS, NY

  • Bought for a friend - a nice option for a step up from standard white.

March 2013  ·  Arthur in Chicago, IL

  • A very solid white shirt. A little sheer for my taste as you have to wear an undershirt unless you want to be showing more than you want. Fine if you keep your coat on. But, that is the reality of a white broadcloth shirt, not the fault of the fabric or PC.

January 2013  ·  Brad in ATLANTA, GA

  • glad to have a nice white shirt, but the fabric is just ok. I don\'t like that it\'s sort of see-through. For my next white shirt I\'ll try something thicker.

January 2013  ·  Shannon in San Francisco, CA

  • Great standard fabric; no frills and to the point.

December 2012  ·  Mark in Falls Church, VA

  • It\'s held up well over 17 months and about 50 machine cold washes. Never dry cleaned, starched, etc. It\'s thin fabric, no doubt, and that is why I like it. Keeps cool, collar stays sharp throughout the day and after all those harsh washes. Downside: wrinkles extremely easily, though that is the nature of untreated thin fabrics. Overall: Will buy again, works best with suits; avoid using with jeans and a sport coat due to thinness.

    November 2012  ·  H. in Angwin, CA

  • The fabric is average, but for $89 I have no problem wearing the heck out of it and washing it normally and generally abusing it. I wouldn\'t wear it with a tux, but it looks good day to day and can be kicked around without feeling bad.

October 2012  ·  Thomas in Alexandria, VA

  • Very soft and comfortable.

October 2012  ·  Louis in Long Beach, CA

  • Crisp. Better for cooler weather, though, as humidity (or sweat) tends to stymie the freshly ironed drape within minutes. Alternatively, wear it with shorts in the summer, sleeves rolled up above the elbows, and who cares about wrinkles?

October 2012  ·  Brandon in Phoenicia, NY

  • Very sheer...good quality.

September 2012  ·  Ross in New York, NY

  • Basic white shirt, get\'s the job done

September 2012  ·  Joel in Kensington, MD

  • Not a big fan of broadcloth, but feel that every man should have at least one solid white, broadcloth shirt. The fabric is very comfortable to wear. Has remained bright white with cleaning.

September 2012  ·  Joseph in Jamaica, NY

  • a little thinner than I was expecting

September 2012  ·  Alexander in Orlando, FL

  • Very formal business shirt cloth. See-through so undershirt needed to not show the nips!

September 2012  ·  Benjamin in Scottsdale, AZ

  • Very thin. If that\'s what you\'re looking for, you\'re in business. But I was a little surprised at how thin it was. I have preferred Proper Cloth whites in my wardrobe.

September 2012  ·  Kevin in Boston, MA

  • Super

August 2012  ·  Doug in Point Washington, FL

  • This is a nice, thick fabric, which is a concern for a white dress shirt if you don\'t wear undershirts. It\'s a fairly soft cloth and makes for a great shirt.

August 2012  ·  Kyle in Chicago, IL

  • Added a subtle grey cuff and collar liner that should help extend the life of this good-looking white basic.

August 2012  ·  Ryan in Newburyport, MA

  • A decent white shirt. It is somewhat thin (and see through), however.

July 2012  ·  Kevin in Santa Cruz, CA
