Fabric Description

So there we were. Lake Como, Italy. Meeting with one of the premiere printed shirt mills in the world. The owner had just come back from a textile auction with a new book of vintage Japanese Katazome block prints almost a century old. We combed through these incredible designs and decided we had to bring them back to life.

We worked with the mill to develop a special digitally printed effect that replicated the faded indigo of the originals. This one is the most dynamic of the bunch, with a beautiful repeating arrow design. Get up close and you'll notice all of the lines are made up of these smaller, slightly imperfect dots in the tradition of vintage Katazome printing. Then we selected an incredibly smooth 80/1 x 80/1 broadcloth quality that's lightweight and super comfortable. We love how it can be worn on a hot day, or layered under a sweater once the temperature drops.

Try this one with a Soft Franklin Spread for a more modern, downtown look. Make sure to opt for a soft cuff and placket to match. Learn more about our Japanese Katazome Print Collection here.

October 2018  ·  Mark in Los Angeles, CA

  • It wasn't the pattern that I actually wanted. I had to return the shirt because it didn't fit and you ran out of the fabric I actually wanted.

November 2017  ·  James in Stanford, CA

  • I do think it's a good value and it wears well and is very wrinkle resistant. My only caveat would be the actual visualization of how the finished product looks vs. the sample...truthfully it might be a little busy for me but it wears well and the actual fabric quality is exceptional

July 2016  ·  Vince in Wilmington, DE

  • This fabric looks great. Has a bit of a "soft" look and it a touch thinner than I had expected. I noticed a touch of shrinking after my second wash. Fabric has very little give/stretch. Looks great as business casual or just going out.

July 2016  ·  David in PORTLAND, OR

June 2016  ·  Damien in Jersey City, NJ

  • The fabric is soft next to my skin yet the shirt feels incredibly durable. The print is unusual in a great way--I don't just look like every other guy in a short-sleeve summer shirt. It's unique without being ostentatious.

  • this particular print is richly detailed and goes equally well solo or with a sports jacket; fabric is on the lighter side but don\'t let that dissuade you - this one is a winner

  • Great pattern, but a bit thin and hard to iron - still love it though

October 2015  ·  Steve in Mosman, NSW

  • Cool fabric. The shirt had a bit of a 70s look to it though.

October 2015  ·  Lynford in Florham Park, NJ

  • Pattern ended up being very prominent but also blends in enough to not look too loud.

October 2015  ·  william in Long Island City, NY

  • On the site it appears to be a texture rather than an applied design. Perhaps my lack of understanding of the terminology, but that was a bit of a surprise. Also a very light fabric - don\'t know if that\'s an intentional feature or a cost-savings measure. Again, because I am not that knowledgeable, it is unclear to me whether it is \"fine\" or \"cheap\". All of that said, it\'s a striking garment.

October 2015  ·  Chris in Madison, WI

  • I think i originally expected it to be a little thicker and a little textured, but i\'m completely happy with it.

October 2015  ·  Daniel in Berkeley, CA

October 2015  ·  Matthew in CINCINNATI, OH

  • Great fabric. Excellent feel.

October 2015  ·  Craig in Washington, DC

  • Very nice.
