Japanese Blackwatch Flannel Fabric

$125

Description

Fabric Description

One of the first flannels to have in your closet. The Blackwatch Tartan is a classic plaid that dates back to Scottish infantry uniforms from the 1700's. The dark blue and green colors are nice and subtle, which makes it an easy fabric to wear on its own or layered up with other pieces. Try a Soft President Cutaway collar for a bolder look, or a Soft Ivy BD for something more traditional.

  • nice fall/winter weight

January 2019  ·  Robert in Clarence, NY

  • The color of fabric is a little darker than I expected, especially with typical indoor lighting. Instead of green and blue it almost appears to be green and black. The blue has more 'pop' when in a brighter setting. The Canclini flannels are softer and typically feel heavier, however they are also more expensive. I recommend the fabric if you're looking for a cheaper option.

  • The pattern is wonderfully subtle. The fabric is thinner (in a good way) than expected.

August 2017  ·  John in San Francisco, CA

  • One of my go to shirts. Warm, but not especially heavy. Remains in great shape almost two years after purchase

October 2016  ·  Matthew in Elmhurst, IL

  • versatile weight for a flannel

February 2016  ·  David in New York, NY

  • This is a terrific weight flannel and I love the color. Great with a pair of wheat color wide wale cords.

January 2016  ·  Desi in Manhattan Beach, CA

  • Lovely and soft

November 2015  ·  Auke in London,

  • Love how soft this fabric is. Good dark look. Perfect for winter.

September 2015  ·  Robert in New York, NY

  • Favourite fabric ordered to date. Soft and looks great

September 2015  ·  Richard in Ashwell, Hertfordshire

  • This is a great blackwatch. I paired it with the Colorado BD and dual pockets. It was a great shirt for the ski lodge (or anywhere else in winter). No pilling as a cheaper flannel might.

June 2015  ·  Neal in Chicago, IL

  • Super soft feels amazing to wear!

June 2015  ·  Shane in Carmel, IN

  • Really great subtlety and has a nice fuzz to it after a few washes

June 2015  ·  Collin in New York, NY

  • Really nice, soft flannel. The color is darker in person. The plaid is really subtle and from 6 ft. away, it almost looks like a solid dark green shirt. I regret not switching out the standard white buttons for this reason as there\'s too much contrast there. I went with the suggested soft ivy button down collar and it looks great.

May 2015  ·  Jason in Issaquah, WA

  • Medium-heavy weight, subtle pattern and very comfortable.

May 2015  ·  Bruce in Woodside, CA

  • Beautiful fabric, very soft and thick and amazing saturated color. Best blackwatch I\'ve ever seen.

April 2015  ·  Adrian in SALT LAKE CITY, UT

  • Like how subtle the plaid is

April 2015  ·  David in MINNEAPOLIS, MN

  • This was a soft, thick flannel, heavier than I expected. I will enjoy this, but it will be a winter shirt.

March 2015  ·  Joseph in Wilmington, DE

  • Such a soft fabric.

March 2015  ·  Jack in Henley Beach South, SA

  • This is a truly lovely fabric; very soft and not too heavy.

March 2015  ·  Andrew in Santa Barbara, CA

  • This is a super soft and comfortable fabric and makes for a great everyday shirt, but the pattern is versatile enough that you can dress it up with a tweed suit or dress it down with denim and boots. It's a pretty smooth fabric, so it contrasts nicely with rougher flannels. This is definitely a fall/winter fabric, but it's not so heavy that you couldn't get away with wearing it into late spring as well.

March 2015  ·  Lee in East Providence, RI

  • Fabric is super soft and feels great. I chose this over the washed/lighter version because I liked the darker look. It does have a very dark look to it so there\'s not as much contrast to the blues/greens as I would have thought from viewing the sample.

March 2015  ·  Lowell in New York, NY

  • my new favorite shirt for play

March 2015  ·  Conor in New York, NY

February 2015  ·  Terence in Beacon Hill, NSW

  • Extremely soft and comfortable fabric. Subtle pattern. Superb shirt.

February 2015  ·  Sam in Boca Grande, FL

  • Amazingly soft flannel, but without the distressed and fuzzy feeling of old work shirt type flannel materials. Really comfortable shirt to wear.

February 2015  ·  ben in Matagorda, TX

  • Like the fabric, soft yet substantial. Very much a flannel. Color is very dark, goes with a variety of looks.

February 2015  ·  Richard in New York, NY

  • This fabric is beautiful and the texture makes it very comfortable. From far away it appears darker than it does in the close-up photos.

February 2015  ·  Daniel in West Palm Beach, FL

  • A \"casual\" style but extremely classy fabric. Makes a great impression!

February 2015  ·  Robert in Northville, MI

January 2015  ·  Steve in Ladue, MO

January 2015  ·  Ben in Seattle, WA

  • Really comfortable. Like comfort food this is my comfort shirt.

January 2015  ·  George in Rockford, IL

  • love the japanese flannel

January 2015  ·  Charles in louisville, KY

  • If you have just one winter shirt in your closet, it should be made from this Japanese Black Watch flannel. Soft and sublime, this fabric is vastly superior to the standard, overly-green, tartan of your preppy childhood. Consider this the Black Watch plaid for grown men.
